Yum! Your basil looks so healthy!
Liz replied 11 months ago
@Queen_of_Green: It is doing well.
Queen_of_Green replied 11 months ago
@Liz: It sure looks good... Do you make pesto with it?
Liz replied 11 months ago
@Queen_of_Green: I do make pesto.  I love it!
Queen_of_Green replied 11 months ago
@Liz: I love pesto too! Basil is a favorite herb of mine. I grow a lot of it! :)

My basil is doing horribly!  I grew many great plants a couple years ago...not since!  it's such a shame too, because I love Basil & can't imagine a Summer w/out it!
Queen_of_Green replied 11 months ago
@veebee: What is wrong with it? Sometimes people plant it too early and it gets stunted in cool weather.
Liz replied 11 months ago
@veebee: I think I would sprinkle some more seeds in different spots and see if you can get them to grow.  I have little seedlings coming up around my tomatoes.

@Queen_of_Green:  when I put them out they looked green and healthy w/several leaves...since, they've stopped growing & have turned pale green/yellow as if they're dying...I'm not sure what I've done different from that first year when all my 20 basil plants thrived unbelievably!?
Queen_of_Green replied 11 months ago
@veebee: That could be uneven watering, weather conditions or soil fertility, or all of the above causing  the yellowing of the leaves, and faded appearanc.... Also, did you harden them off before you set them out? Liz's idea of sprinkling seeds in a few different ares is a good idea, too. I would make sure to add some compost to the planting area and some good organic fertilizer and dig it in well then sow more seed, and it should thrive now that summer is here. Basil is very sensitive to cool temperatures and over watering, so keep that in mind. I hope this helps! :)

@Queen_of_Green:  thanks!  I do have some in a pot by the back door that looks much better...so I'll survive!

@veebee: Oh good! it would be tragic to be without basil! :)
