@MaryLarson: My lettuce is still growing and will be ready to cut again in a few days. Our weather has been mild in comparison to last year. I see that you live in a nearby state and are probably experiencing similar weather conditions. I am growing my lettuce in one of those plastic greenhouses with shelves. This is inside a greenhouse (which is more like a big cold frame) built on the side of my barn. This started out to be a little experiment on how long I could grow my own lettuce.....and so far, it has been longer than I expected. Good luck with your kale.
