Here in Minnesota, that could all be in one day!  The local public television station did a great program on climate change in Minnesota and they said that the only place on earth with more extreme weather changes than Minnesota is Siberia.

There are jokes about Michigan being the only state that can have all four seasons in one day.  Six more inches of snow in Minnesota.....I'm so sorry.  And I've been complaining about all the wind we've been having here!!  At least it's warmer today, but I had to come in because the wind is bothering my eyes.  I did see a photo this morning on Facebook of Wisconsin all covered in snow with a spring caption and I thought maybe that was a photo from a couple of weeks ago.....maybe they have snow, too.  Please don't come to Michigan.  I really don't think I could handle it. This morning was fairly calm in comparison to this afternoon.  I tried cleaning out the flower beds and was fighting the wind the whole time.  Then all of a sudden it started getting darker and I already knew a storm was predicted.  But I figured if it was going to rain, I was at least going to get my hydrangeas fertilized because I want the ones that will turn blue to be blue and I'm always so busy doing other things that I fertilize them too late.  I was able to get it done and walked in the house and my husband said he just got a recorded message on the phone that there is a tornado watch.  Interesting!  That's never happened before.  Then  a little while ago, we got another call saying it was canceled.  So far nothing more than rain and it doesn't even look windy out.  It is 82 degrees in Monroe!! (less)

How fun. My daughter wants a mallard duck, so bad. She bought two of them, at different times, and they both died of some kind of duck virus. So sad. She decided to give it up for this year, but hopes ... more »

How fun. My daughter wants a mallard duck, so bad. She bought two of them, at different times, and they both died of some kind of duck virus. So sad. She decided to give it up for this year, but hopes to be able to get one next year. We are hoping to get a male duck for our females so that we can have babies... We are really liking duck eggs as much or even more than chicken eggs. (less)

Yes they are a bit larger and the white is much heavier. I use them in baking, just as I would a chicken egg and so far all works just fine, but I imagine there are some recipes that the larger size could need to be compensated for. I like the shells because they are tougher and less likely to break during gathering. The eggshells are also quite waterproof so I can really scrub them before putting them in the fridge. The Ducks are more consistant layers and they do not seem to hide the eggs like the chickens sometimes do. We were very sad to loose the baby ducks, they were just so cute. I do hope that we can get a male that is like our females, they are a white/tan ducks that we have learned do not fly, so that is why they stay with us instead of flying south for the winter. (less)
