We had a table at Earth Fair where we handed out free packets of Heirloom Sunflower Seeds to promote pollen havens for bees. Thank you Your Garden Show for our earlier win that helped us be able to have the seeds to give away.

There are going to be installing smart meters in my community on all of our homes. Most folks seem to be okay with it. I am hearing alarming stories of the damage it does to bees. Oh my, I have heard people talking about the damage to health with smart meters.  We dug our feet in but finally caved recently after being told of the cost.  We were fighting it because of jobs.... (more)

GREATEST SUNFLOWER PROJECT

On May 1, 2012 we have decided to pretty up our community by giving away Sunflower seeds for planting. The bee's will love it and our homes and streets could use a tad bit of love too. Hope all the gardens all over the world do the same.

We got our first box of seeds. Very exciting. Seed Savers have great heirloom seeds. We have a local greenhouse that gets us started growing early. Tomatoes, broccoli, egg  plant and such already getting a start,

Wow the warmer weather we have been having brought the strawberries out of hibernation. They had to be recovered Thursday. Tons of green growth and with winter showing back up this weekend we were bound to lose them. Saw some buds on the raspberry bushes too. No pictures today but just giving you an update. No, it is the photo that we got with the directions on construction. However, it was 54 degrees here yesterday and expected to be mid 40's today. Ice skating has only happened for 2 days and NO ice fishing... (more)

strange times these....54 degrees on Jan 31. I have a friend who is a snow plower in Chicago and he has really been crying this winter.

I had a pregnant momma move in, she had 5 babies.. *oh they are soooooo cute when they are babies* ;o) but they each took up residencies in 6 seperate places.... and never left.. They are the bain of my existance... ;o(

We made homemade ornaments and took 2 nights of bus trips to Fruitport Michigan. Friday night the hooper kids did a holiday hula hoop show. Saturday night a whole new batch of kids took the bus out. Fun wa... (more)

We have had an odd fall. Normally by now snow is on the ground. I have flowers still blooming and our onions and beets are still going strong. Odd, I say!!!

Thank you Mainegarden..................growing food is so much fun.:) Plus the kiddo's are pretty great too. We have food pantries in town that can barely keep the shelves stocked. Hard times we live in. Make the best of it with food and fun.

Whoo hoo..... we turned the garden into a Halloween Treat Walk. Hot cocoa, popcorn and treats for the kiddo's. Fun had by all.

We were given some more "Spanish Organic Garlic" and put in 18 more rows yesterday. We know it is a tad late so we used some straw for a late start.
