I have no idea but they burned off in the sun that day and came back the next. I do wonder if they will affect my cilantro.

Yesterday I started the second bed by the patio. I've gotten the "grass" dug out and now I need to determine what I am going to do with the extra soil before I start digging the bed. I have heard good things about this variety, it's supposed to have lots of tender, tasty side shoots after the main head is cut. It sounds like it will be a little broccoli tree. :)

Thanks guys. I unearthed it and it was like the root system was just gone. What the heck? Anywho, I found a beautiful heirloom as the nursery so it has been planed in it's place. Better to loose them early, hey?
