Last week I dug up some more ground, expanding this garden. It no longer looks like an ameba so much as a shark without fins. :) Haven't planted anything in the new spaces yet. Phantom-Rose created a garden!

So named for its shape, it was created when we pulled out some dying rose bushes. The 1st couple years I planted miniature roses here, but they didn't do so well over the winter. Then I tried making it into another herb garden but the plants got too big, blocking the view of the beautiful white moon garden behind it. Now it is just a wild patch with some spring bulbs & marigolds in it, sort of in transition at the moment while I try to figure out what to do with it. It is in perpetual sunlight, with no trees or structures to shadow or shade it. Still, it manages to retain moisture surprisingly well.
