After a hurricane in early fall, and a bazillion snow storms this winter, it is finally starting to look like spring around here (although it was only 43 degrees yesterday!). | |

| perhaps drip irrigation, like we have in our veggie garden would work. Of course a couple of plants near the house would be nice too. I love that the garlic has been passed on. Fabulous. |

As the calendar flipped to March, the snow continued to fall....another snowday from school on Friday. When we are in school til June 26th, you will all have to cheer me up! | |

I found myself need ing to do SOME kind of gardening this weekend. I am recouping after surgery 10 days ago....I have had lots of time for reading seed catalogs and planning. I have 6 more weeks of laying low...and then spring will practically be upon us...ok maybe not....but a girl can dream! | |

Hi all. December has been as busy here as it seems it has been for all my other YGS friends. Spent last weekend cleaning up the yard on an unseasonably warm 60 degree day. Raked and cleaned up the decorative pumpkins. We cut open Big Max. I then spent hours preparing the pumpkin to puree and freeze. I managed to get 16 cups of... ...see more | |
Decorating with foraged items from the great outdoors is not just economical - it usually looks awesome too. I am going to try that pumpkin pie soon. |

Hi everyone. Just got our garlic in today. We planted 200 (hard neck) cloves in two beds. We mulched with leaves, as they were free, we had LOTS (as opposed to last year when Irene carried them off to a faraway land), and we just couldn't find any straw. Tomorrow we are going to plat garlic and winter greens. We made it through the hurricane fine, with just a tree to clean up. My heart goes out to those struggling with loss. | |
