Looks like little paws. I love it too, as with most Maples, they are just so pretty. I really do love a big old Maple tree, except if I have to rake all the leaves. I like ours, out in its field.
@JMTKMS: I love most maples too, but now I love the leaves too, because they are gold for the garden! I chop up the leaves with the lawn mower and use them in the compost pile and as mulch for my veggie beds... :)
