Today is May 10 and it is 34 degrees outside right now! It sure isn't very good tomato growing weather!

Gosh it is 38 here and yesterday they said we would reach 80 today, now they say 68 is our high.  I was really looking forward to a beautiful day.  Now it is kinda chilly, again.

@JMTKMS: I just heard on the news tonight that we ware supposed to get up to 79 on Sunday and 81 on Monday even in Western Washington... Bring it on!... I hope that's correct info... we are rusting over here. :)

Spring is such a fickle season - hoping the warmth finds you soon!

Once again hugging my bugs and critters close to me and forgiving them for their destructi... in the weather trade off.

@RoriTx: I'm starting to think you are on to something there... I hope we get a break here in the next few days... :)

I hope it warms up there....but it has actually been under 80 here which would be like below 10 there.  It has been a fun week!  Rain we had rain!

How was your day at the greenhouse?
Queen_of_Green replied about 1 year ago
@Liz: It was crazy, but really fun! We sold 3000 fuchsia baskets and 2000 mixed baskets in one day! Along with about 200 racks of plants... We had a $190,000.00 day! It sure flew by fast... :)

@Queen_of_Green: I'd say you had a great day!  That's amazing!
Queen_of_Green replied about 1 year ago
@Liz: It sure was, and it went so smoothly! We have 4 great managers who run our store, and that made a huge difference! It was fun! :) I love my job... :)

@Queen_of_Green: That's good.....good managers are the key.....they must be good because you had a great day yesterday.....I'd love to work part-time in a place like that!
Queen_of_Green replied about 1 year ago
@Liz: It really fun, the only problem i..., I don't have time to plant my own garden until t... crazy rush is over at the end of May and into June. I can deal with that though! :) On Mother's day the store manager asked me how I was holding up, and I said " Great, this is a piece of cake! Thank you so much for hiring me!" His response was, "Thank you so much for applying!" It cracked me up, and that was really nice to hear from him, it made my day even better! :)

@Liz: I'll bet the 4 Star Greenhouse/ Proven Winners hires part time seasonal help too... for all of your spare time! Lol! :)
Liz replied about 1 year ago
@Queen_of_Green: They do.....I've seen their ads.  They don't sell to the public, though.  I think it would be fun to help people.
Liz replied about 1 year ago
@Queen_of_Green: That was nice of your boss.  It's nice to know you are appreciated.
Queen_of_Green replied about 1 year ago
@Liz: Oh yeah, that would be a different ball game. I did both at the last greenhouse I worked for. I was the perennial grower, but I was also the main sales person for perennials and I taught over a dozen seminars a year for them on gardening topics and going green. It was fun. Helping people pick the right plants for their gard... is very fun, that's may favorite part of the job! :)

@Liz: It really was nice of him to say that. All 4 of our managers have told me they are lucky to have me. It makes me feel really good to be working there, and it is SO nice the be appreciated like that! This is where I am supposed to be right now... :)

@Queen_of_Green: Does it slow down in the summer or is it always busy?
Queen_of_Green replied about 1 year ago
@Liz: It does slow down in the summer, especially if we have really hot days. It is busy when we have large ads breaking, but this is definitely the peak season for retail plant sales. When it slows down I can shift into another area of the store if they need help, and learn something new. I'll be outside all summer and fall though. Then we sell Christmas trees during the holidays... so it will be different for me every season... :)

@Queen_of_Green: It sounds like an interesting job.

@Liz: I think it is... It's the perfect job for me right now! There is always something new to learn, and lots of people to help, every day. I love it! :)
