@JMTKMS: It used to be a private residence and orchard, but after the original owners passed away the willed it to the city of University place and it was turned into a 7 1/2 acre park. The have an adopt a tree program to take car of the park and orchard. Every fall they have a cider squeeze and you can harvest apples and have it squeezed right then. I have adopted a Gravenstein apple tree there for 3 years now. An Arborist and Master gardener... to teach adoptersÂ... to prune and thin the apple trees and about insect and disease control. We use red balls with tanglefoot for insect control, it works pretty well.
