I harvested a bowl of raspberries tonight. They are starting to ripen fast now. Hopefully I will have enough for some jam soon. I snacked on some in the garden too.

We are still gathering and storing in the freezer.  I am glad you are getting yours, instead of the birds.

@JMTKMS: I have more than enough for both me and the birds! Fortunately, the birds don't bother them much in my yard. They have lots of other food here.

@Queen_of_Green:  Well that is good. I wish we had more, but I think next year will be a really good year.
Queen_of_Green replied 11 months ago
@JMTKMS: Next year, I'm sure you will have LOTS more! :)

Your berries are looking mighty good!  Mine have slowed down a bit in this heat, but I think it's mainly a water thing - I let the hose run on them for a while early this morning - I hope that helps!

@SweetDomesticity...: The berries are really good right now! Soon enough will be ripe at the same time to make jam. I have been snacking on them regularly! Water should help a lot... I also topdress with compost this time of year and the fall crop has HUGE berries! :)

@Queen_of_Green:  Do raspberries produce twice in a year?  Guess I better get composting...  :)
Queen_of_Green replied 11 months ago
@JMTKMS: It depends on the variety you have... Some varieties are summer bearing and some are everbearing. Mine are all everbearing.

@Queen_of_Green:   Remind me, are your with or without thorns?
Queen_of_Green replied 11 months ago
@JMTKMS: They have little thorns, but they don't really scratch... If that makes sense...
JMTKMS replied 11 months ago
@Queen_of_Green:  Sounds like a good variety, since it is everbearing.  :)

@JMTKMS: They are delicious too. I hope I can get some in the house to make something with this season. So far, they all seem to get eaten fresh off the vine! :)

@Queen_of_Green:  It is hard when there is just a handful every day.  We have similar problem.. but we do try to get a few into the freezer so they an add up.  :)
Queen_of_Green replied 11 months ago
@JMTKMS: It sure is... But next year you will have a lot more and every year after that too! They multiply pretty fast.
JMTKMS replied 11 months ago
@Queen_of_Green:  Thats for sure, we have lots of new ones already to find homes for.
Queen_of_Green replied 11 months ago
@JMTKMS: Cool! You'll have a good crop in no time! :)

That is a very exciting thought!   Hey, I talked to my dad and the grill he was talking about is the same one you got.  Just such a small world... so funny he mentioned it to me, the night before you told us you got one.... :) :)

@JMTKMS: That is a funny connection! I had never even heard of Traeger Grills until a few months ago! :) I love it, BTW! I grilled some corn on the cob again tonight... Delicious! :)
