Hi All, I've missed you! Wow, it's been awhile since I last posted! I have had a very sick brother-in-law, but he is starting to get better now. I am moving this month too, so I'll be back in April. Hopefully, the garden will be ready to plant soon!

Pretty soon we'll be singing the gang's all here!

New Red Fire Lettuce Seed Jan 04, 2013
Activity-icon-status

I saved seed from my fall crop of 'New Red Fire' lettuce. Last night I separated the seed from the stalks and cleaned them. They are ready for planting in early spring. I think I will start a few seeds inside today to grow in my kitchen greenhouse window right now.

Liz replied 5 months ago
Such a pretty colored lettuce!  There are so many different kinds of lettuce to choose from.....it's hard to just pick a few varieties for the garden.  I'm getting anxious for spring planting.

I have managed to shell 2 pounds worth of walnuts and hope to get alot more done before the New Year.  Shelling/cracking walnuts is a great movie pastime...  Well, I think so, not too sure about the kids.  :):)

I will post the Apple Pear Chutney recipe on the forum as soon as I have access again. It's not working right now. :(
RoriTx replied 6 months ago
They must be working on it. I haven't been able to get to it for awhile now.
Queen_of_Green replied 5 months ago
The Apple Pear Chutney has been a huge hit with all of my family and coworkers... Time for another batch! It's great with chicken & pork and tonight we will have it with our Christmas ham. I'll post the recipe as soon as I can... YUM!

My next batch will be red cabbage Sauerkraut. It is a beautiful pink color when it's done fermenting.

I'm completely fascinated with fermenting - I just wish I could acquire a taste for sauerkraut, lol.  My brother has gotten to be quite an expert fermenter, so I just live vicariously through him :)
