Local Honey

Planning ahead

I made my first order for fall plantings and trying to put the finishing touches on the layout. Looking around at all the spring plantings everyone else has put out makes choosing just a little bit easier.
I'm super excited to see the edamame is finally trying to fill out. I really dislike not knowing how something is supposed to be growing...is it ready? too early? Inquiring minds really want to know.
It was raining last night (Yah!) when we arrived back home and according to the news we should expect daily showers ALL WEEK! I'm thinking this should cool us down long enough that the tomatoes might actually set another crop. The tops are putting on new growth like crazy so I may head outside to do a little trimming later on. I can only hope to be so lucky. Those pesky pickling cucumbers are heading to the compost. Everyone I know around here has reached the saturation point of no return and I can't give them away.
The man who raises our local honey has finally delivered.I see Texas is now making him put fancy little shrink wraps over the jar lids...sigh. On a funnier note Gary was laughing at me since I was admiring the honey as it sat on the counter and what was I thinking? Oooh, two more canning jars!!

I can relate (but probably not to the extent you do since you can a lot more than I ever could) on the canning jars ... I think half of mine have disappeared.  Please share you fall garden plan when you finalize ....

@vanna516: It's been a hard choice this year. All the heirloom choices make me want to try them all.

@tallulahshines: I have faith in your abilities! It was fairly easy and your post helped me decide on lunch. :)

The canning jar thing made me smile - last Friday my husband's best friend called me because as they were cleaning out his great aunt's garage, they found a big stash of canning jars.  No one there wanted them, so he was offering them to me - my husband laughed and said you would have thought I won the lottery! :)

@SweetDomesticity...: I could have a whole room of jars and still never have enough. When you give things away some people never stop to consider the cost of replacing a jar if they throw it away. All my immediate family and close friends understand that might be a killing offense.
