| Amazing!! You'll be enjoying your garden all winter long. Lucky you!! |
| Wow. Speechless |
| Do you pressure can as well as hot water bath? I really want to start Pressure canning, but really have a fear of it. Your pantry shelves are great, they are so deep. I wish mine were like that. |

My friend, an incredible gardener, gave me his extra tomatoes! Their combined weight totalled 182 pounds!!!! I have used 65 pounds so far and today I'll be saucing another 45. How blessed am I? The finish line for 2011 is in sight; I cut down my tomatoes yesterday and I'm excited for the new possibilities that come with... ...see more | |

| I buy from Johnny's and High MOwing Organic seeds, and they are both close to you. I also buy from Baker Creek. I think I am done with New Girl, the fruit was just tiny, but Big beef is always consistent, just like a hybrid is supposed to be! |

| Beautiful produce! I love your greenhouse! Are there plans available that you can share? |
My husband built it and he never made any plans for it! I will post some pictures of the construction soon, he built it for my birthday in 2009! |

You know, it's so funny--we didn't heat our greenhouse at all until we put in the ladybugs that my daughter got for her birthday! HA! They died anyway, so we unplugged the heater! We j... more » |

We started in 2008 with about 100 square feet of raised beds and since we have expanded to about 500 square feet of garden space and 100 square feet of greenhouse space. The garden lies at 6000 feet elevation and the growing season is very short, but we compensate by using cold tolerant varieties and growing our tomatoes and peppers in the greenhouse. We use 100% organic growing methods, relying on healthy soil, homemade compost, and the occasional spray of neem to control flea beetles. The cold nights, sometimes reaching mid-30s in July, also help to control the insects for us. While the garden started...

I always do more than one variety in the greenhouse and I already have a bunch of seeds. Black Krim that I saved from last year, Cherokee Purple, and Mortgage Lifter are on the list for sure. I need a paste tomato so I think I'll go with Amish paste.
Melon would take a lot of space, but if you have it, why not! I'm going to try a row of corn next year! That's crazy, but I have to try, right?

I'm going to try to grow the melon up..use pantyhose to put the melon in and tie to a strapping...I'll have to post pictures this summer if I'm successful ;o)
So are you going to use mycorrhizae?
I've done corn in a raised bed at my other house...just because. I grew some tasty corn but there wasn't a lot of it...only did it once there. Haven't at all here. I want to grow strawberries here ... I've done that before and it was successful...Manley thinks the chipmunks will have a field day...we'll see...
