I'm finally done with my classes for a few weeks and able to peruse my shiny new seed catalogs! I have a lot of seeds left from last year that I need to use up, but I am looking forward to new tomato varieties. Does anyone have experience adding mychorr

I've never heard of it...are you doing more than one in the greenhouse?  I want to try a melon in the greenhouse...Manley thinks I'm nuts...okay, maybe a little.

Drat!  My update got cut off.  I was asking about mycorrhizae,my friend that gave me all those tomatoes used it last year, 1/2 c in the planting hole per tomato. I always do more than one variety in the greenhouse and I already have a bunch of seeds.  Black Krim that I saved from last year, Cherokee Purple, and Mortgage Lifter are on the list for sure.  I need a paste tomato so I think I'll go with Amish paste. Melon would take a lot of space, but if you have it, why not!  I'm going to try a row of corn next year!  That's crazy, but I have to try, right?

Ha, I thought it was some new tomato...I'm going to try a paste in the GH...maybe Opalka, then Trust and Cobra...probably.  I usually throw a grape tomato in one of the outside beds.I'm going to try to grow the melon up..use pantyhose to put the melon in and tie to a strapping...I'll have to post pictures this summer if I'm successful ;o)  So are you going to use mycorrhizae?  I've done corn in a raised bed at my other house...just because.  I grew some tasty corn but there wasn't a lot of it...only did it once there.  Haven't at all here.  I want to grow strawberries here ... I've done that before and it was successful...Manley thinks the chipmunks will have a field day...we'll see...

What is "mycorrihizae"?? Why do you put it in with the tomatoes?  Is it a fertilizer?  Also, love your green house!  What a husband!

@JMTKMS: Mychorrhizae is beneficial fungi that increased the surface area of the roots of plants so they can take up more nutrients.  It is a componant of healthy living soil.  I have never added it, but I plan on it this year.  I love my greenhouse too!  I've got wintered over lettuce and spinach almost ready to eat!
