@RoriTx: I can't wait! Fresh salsa is the primary reason we have a garden. Is it bad that I'm already thinking about chopping up my cherry tomatoes (they're the furthest along) as soon as they turn to make a mini batch of fresh salsa??? :)
@SweetDomesticity...: Me too! I can't wait for peppers and tomatoes! I have some peppers in the greenhouse that are blooming and starting to form peppers, too...
@RoriTx: So true! There are lots of blossoms and buds these days - it won't be long before the space between the rows narrows and the harvests start rolling in.
@SweetDomesticity...: It really is getting exciting. Our peppers are starting to grow, but not very big yet. We did buy a few, already started since we lost a few, and they are blooming. :) :) Home grown peppers are the best!
@JMTKMS: Agreed! :) I have peppers all over the spectrum right now. Some of the plants that took off right from the get go have little peppers, and some of the late germinators seem pretty little still (but they are catching up quickly). I have one banana pepper I need to replace that didn't make it - hopefully my garden dries out so I can do that this week!
@SweetDomesticity...: Well, I am very excited for you! I love banana peppers, they are fun to eat and grow so well. John planted one by the Jalapeno plants last year, and it really took on a Heat to it. This year we planted the hot peppers away from the "cold" peppers. :) :) :)
@JMTKMS: Interesting, I actually like my banana pepper rings a little hot, so it is good that they are in between my hot peppers and sweet peppers. I plant them from hottest to sweetest only because the sunlight is better on one end, and I want the hot ones to get the most sun, but it appears there's another advantage to my madness, I mean method :)
@SweetDomesticity...: Well I hope it works good for you. Peppers are really one of the most fun veggies to grow! So many varieties, so many flavors, so many colors and just so much you can do with them. :)
@JMTKMS: I actually planted the Santa Fe Grande peppers (hot, bright colored peppers) to add to some jars of banana pepper rings, so even if the bananas are really sweet, I'll get my fix of hot :) You are so right, they are one of the best things to grow. I don't think they quite beat out the tomato in my book, but they come close! :)
@SweetDomesticity...: We put a coupe hot peppers in our sweet pickles and sweet relish last year, and boy did everyone love them. They all want more this year. They were not so hot you could not eat them, but just had a good heat to them. Sweet/Hot is great!
