@linzelu100: Thanks! They're really pretty self sufficient once they're in the ground, just the usual weeding and care. Rori just mentioned that organic lime will make them sweeter, so I might look into that this year! Last year I ran into a bit of trouble with my onions because we were reseeding our lawn - all the extra water that hit the garden from the sprinkler made it a little too wet for the onions. A few of them started to get mushy, but underneath that first layer or two they were good (we just had to use them up right away). This year I made sure to add lots of compost to this part of the garden to "lighten up" the soil and hopefully help it drain better if we get a wet stretch of weather.
I really love this photo!! I love the light for garden photos in the morning and evening, it really makes the soil look so dark and the colors of the plants pop. REALLy great picture!
i like the red ones the best they dry nice. and come back great in hashbrown.and chili. walla wallas are the same way.but the red ones are really pretty.
