I'm with Gail - Die bugs Die!!! We've been in the 40's here in Ohio - doesn't look like it will be a White Christmas - which means I can't get in the Christmas spirit that much. I think I would suck as a southerner around this time of year (well other than me having fun still gardening!) - but just can't get all Christmas-y without white stuff on the ground. (less)

Most Excellent Christmas Card!  We have not gotten any snow, but everyone around us is getting buried.  I am hoping to get enough snow and cold to kill the bugs, but that is it...  I really like warmer weather better. :) (less)

@sweetdomesticity I love all the different colored tomotoes you grew.  I grew 12 different varieties but most were red..  My newbies were: green zebra, yellow boy, a white salad tomato, big rainbow, pink brandywine, and a few pineapple tomatoes.  Next year I plan to even more choices to the mix.  Although I will keep a salad garden and root crops over the winter; I am looking forward to planting the many heirloom seeds I bought for next year.

WOW indeed!!!  I'm trying to save my peppers for a few more weeks - been going out there almost every night to cover them up for a good nights rest.  I have to hand it to you for take the time to keep track of all this!!  I have counter of maters too - problem is some have the nasty late season spots on them - might have to just cut those out and make more tomato juice to can before they all go bad.   A friend just sent me a green tomato relish recipe that uses apples and red peppers...  gonna give it a try!

I would say long time no see but that's not true. I have been faithfully creeping on your blog. I so enjoy it. This heirloom pumpkin/squash phenomena may be something everyone up north is familiar with but to my astonishment we seem to have been invaded down here with truckloads of everything you can imagine. I've never once in 30 years of living in Texas seen anything but a pumpkin offered for sale. We went to one of my favorite places last week and they had loads and loads of pumpkins.gourds and winter squash. It was amazing.  (less)

Enjoy the fall flurry. I am always so amazed by all the different squashes & things too. When I was growing up there was only plain orange round pumpkins to grow. Then one year when I was in high school,  my Mom grew Vegetable Marrow. Then different kinds of pupmpins. Then Vegetable Spagetti. Unheard of. She is such a rebel. (She took her garden trowel in her bag to the seniors lodge, dug up weeds in the garden bed outside her window and planted tulips. Last week she dug up the spot outside her nieghbours window and has more bulbs in her bag to plant there so that she can see them from her window in the spring) (less)
