I'd poke around in the dirt and check the roots. If it's just rained and it's still showing signs of water stress there may either be root damage or something related. How long has it been since you set it... more »

looks like squash near by - did you spray soapy water to kill squash bugs and it hit the pepper plants... some plants are not tolerant to different sprays.  I had a pepper plant do that for a few days... more »

I took a closer look at the ground around the plant tonight, and I think it might be ants.  There is a pretty sizable ant hill pretty much right underneath the plant, and that is the only difference b... more »

I had Mr. Stripey last year...wasn't impressed by flavor, but sure was pretty!
knitowl replied 10 months ago
For 'sheer mass' Mr.Stripey was a win, HUGE tomatoes.  But yes, not very flavorful.
PrinceSnow replied 10 months ago
Hope no one tries to quiz me. Rori is the one that is so spot on with the names!

Thanks!  This is the first time I've grown them - I'm hoping that they continue to do well!

They look nice and moist. I love that about adding fruit and/or veg to baking.
Sophora replied 10 months ago
They do look moist and tasty. I would of never thought about that combination. I'm always learning new food combos on this site. Thanks for sharing.

First Santa Fe Grande Pepper Jul 20, 2012
Activity-icon-status

Just tried the first Santa Fe Grande Pepper: nice flavor and crunch and lots of heat - can't wait to try them at the next stage of ripeness (orange) - I think these are going to be a favorite.  Looking forward to the jars of hot sauce and pepper rings that will follow!

StoneCottageFarm replied 10 months ago
Looks beautiful - but so innocent, wouldn't expect it to have a hot flavor based on it's pale color. lol. One year when I was very new to gardening, I planted what I thought were mild banana peppers, turns... more »

That looks good! I am growing these peppers for the first time this year, and looking forward to lots of salsa! I'm looking forward to your posts on this pepper too! :)
RoriTx replied 10 months ago
I'm wondering if these would make a good pepper for vinegar. It might be pretty with ulti colored peppers.

Beautiful harvest. What is to the right of the pepper? Green tomato or tomatillo?
StoneCottageFarm replied 10 months ago
Love this photo!

I never get tired of looking at those purple beans. You need some Burgandy okra and your purple tomatoes to make a series of
color themed shots. Purple,red,yellow etc.

Yes!  We're almost back into a "normal" pattern this week, with a little gentle rain nearly every day and some serious humidity. The garden is loving it!

My staycation to-do list has been keeping me from my YGS friends. Yay for getting things done, but I know I’m missing out on some good stuff. Doing my best to catch up on all your posts and respond to comments tonight!
SweetDomesticity replied 10 months ago
Yep, lots of cleaning, but some garden fun as well.  I've been spending my early mornings and evenings (when it's been cooler) in the gardens and the days tackling a number of projects around the hous... more »

I feel like I'm running out of energy tonight.  I spent the whole day outside working in the yard and garden.  Not a bad way to spend the day, but man am I beat now :) One more day of hard work, and then time to relax for the weekend!
