My mother rooted these huge azaleas from tiny cuttings.    She has the greenest thumb of anyone I've ever known!

SylviaG replied almost 2 years ago

These particular bushes have been in this location for up to 30 years when she moved in this house.   However, she had the same azaleas at the previous house and carried cuttings with her.&nbs... more »

I cooked two batches of collards and made chicken-kale-white bean soup.    Delicious!

Do you plant anything that interests the kitties for dinner?  Will they eat any of your vegetables?
SylviaG replied about 2 years ago
Nothing except the catnip!    I have two kitties that roll in the catnip and two that ignore it!    I have to plant it in a pot because if I have it in the ground, it lasts on... more »

Dirt! Mar 24, 2011
Activity-icon-status

I love dirt - always have, always will. What joy there is in running crumbly loam through my fingers! As a little girl, I can remember making mud pies, constructing frog houses by mounding dirt over my foot, and even eating dirt (it was our Pop Eye's spinach, if you can imagine). With gardening parents and grandparents, there...

Hello Sylvia-I'm a NC girl too.  You mentioned mud pies and frog houses...I guess any girl raised in NC are familiar with them...I've made quite a few myself in southeastern NC!  I've even made a... more »
