Made it through the frost...I think!

Apr 12, 2012
Covered all 5 beds just in case.  It did go down to 35 and it was chilly waiting for the school bus and walking the dog this morning!

Today is low 35 and high 65.  This weekend is supposed to be mid to high 80's.  I don't get it.

The mosquitoes are already biting...dag nabbit.
Anybody got a way to work in the garden that avoids bites without suffocating yourself in clothes or drowning yourself in bug spray?

I drown myself in bug spray...I would think they would not be out when it is still so cool up there.

We really had no winter.  It was crazy.  I only wore my heavy winter coat about 3 times.  The rest i was in a sweater with a fleece.  Usually it is at least May before they get bad, but we are getting eaten here (about 30 min North of Atlanta).

I feel your pain - I'm allergic to deet, so most bug sprays are out for me.  Off used to make a botanical bug repellent that was lighter, deet-free, and all around more pleasant, but I haven't seen it in the past couple of years around here, which is a bummer, because it worked well!  Avon Skin So Soft also works, as a bug spray alternative.
