You've got me hook, line, and sinker.....explain how you did it. I didn't think you could grow bananas here, only in the tropical climates unless they were grown in one of those conservatories.... more » |

They grow here in Baton Rouge but they are biennial so must make it through a winter in order to bloom and produce fruit the second year, which rarely happens here. Even if they freeze new growth wil... more » |

My garden is on a small urban lot in downtown Baton Rouge. I have two beds approximately 8'x20' each along with a 2'x20' raised bed with vertical supports for Raspberries. I also have two satsuma trees. I have a 8'x20' area for composting. This area is completely under trees so is only good for composting. I receive just enough light in this part of my yard for growing vegatables. I plan to extend my vegatable growing to the front yard eventually, but only when I have the time to do this in a very aesthetically pleasing way so that I do not offend my neighbors.
