Gardening since 1999
We are bringing back to life a 1940 stone front cottage which sits on 3 acres. An abundance of fruit trees and wildlife. We have a mix of chickens and and plan to add Rabbits back to our tending. Our 3 young children are enjoying the wonders of living the country life as they grow into Earth Conscious, self sustainable adults. From the gardens to the many projects such as masonry of our cement compost bin. Their exposure to old ways has been an adventure.

Hi Tammy...been missing your wonderful posts these past couple months!!!  hope all is well with you, your family, and the garden!

Tammy,hi . I see you are interested in Heirlooms with a story, This year i am planting a heirloom tomato from seed savers exchange that has a unique story. I have been getting seeds of the heirloom type from them for the past 5 years and have not been disappointed. The tomato's name is Emmy, check it out on seedsavers.com.
UnusualFarmChick replied about 1 year ago
@hotrodabe56: Thank you for the suggestion. I will be looking into that variety. I have yet to order from Seed Savers but my gardening on a huge scale neighbor buys most of his from them. I am not a tomato fan for the most part. I prefer the plum types for fresh eating with the black Cherry as an exception. Other than that, I grow a big amount of sauce tomatoes for canning. That site could be dangerous....veeery dangerous.... ; )

We are starting a new garden this year and will be posting probably today. I also like the photo of you (I guess that's you) walking across that field. Very lyrical...

@Tom:Thank you Tom for the welcoming & such a sweet compliment. I have a weakness for the romantic stir of the era. The old photos inspire me in my hobby photography. The field photo was taken by my 6yr old. We were out walking the back field field when a sudden storm sped our way. It was a most amazing site with the field grasses swaying in the warm winds as well as the the impending storm clouds.I too look forward to seeing more of your garden & community in Italy. Awwww. Italy. So dreamy for this "old way" loving girl.
