Hey Lady...Wanna get out of my way? Apparently I was blocking the door and she "stared me down" until I moved...

Thank you all. I have had chickens since 2005 and only without a very short time about midway between then & now. I simply do not feel right without them. I lhave had as much as 60 chickens at one time and will never do that many again. I go by the adage have enough for yours and then just a little more to share. They say 2 hens per person is plenty so we currently have 12 hens and 1 rooster {a recent Falcon attack took Esmeralda's twin {the Barred rock mix who lays blue eggs} when she decided the pasture was greener on the outside one morn} A tip should you ever get a rooster with your chickens * NEVER wear red or they think your Rooster competition and will almost for sure attack. Roo Beer sets the alarm when he see's my red handled tools too and has attacked me carrying them into the pen for cleaning up. Now that I understand the pattern of his incidents, I make sure there is nothing red going around him. ; )

@UnusualFarmChick...:  So a rooster is like a bull when it sees red!

@Clenram:Yeah, kinda like that. : ) But he does not charge everytime. Sometimes he'll sneak attack, waiting for you to bend over or something.
