@Liz: She was an AMAZING goat. My husband is not a fan of goats behavior but she was the exception. She had come from a rescue mission in s. Ohio where there were hundreds of neglected goats on some farm. She came to us refusing to be touched but I worked with her gradually through massage. Letting her see our touch was not bad. Soon she was rubbing up on us and became like a dog. My husband will not let me have goats anymore since the rest were annoying to him. lol.
Awww what a great story. We have 3 goats - they are very much like dogs - especially on all the attention they want constantly! We just put ours out int he pasture yesterday - I have to upload a little video I took after we got them out there and they were done eating their steam oats (treat).
@PYehl: The attention is what turned my husband off. lol. Chia was aloofonly giving attention to us when SHE felt like it. She sure everyone knew she was Queen but she did things in such a way that appealed to him. I think he liked the fact that she did not "whine" like the others. We both agree on disliking Pygmy goats {I can't stand them devilish escape artists} and the Nubians were indeed whiney. But Chia was Angora/ Saanen mix. I'll have to wait for the girls to wake up & watch the video. They will enjoy it. : )
@UnusualFarmChick...: I second the cuteness! I've never been around goats much. Most people around this area don't keep them for milk just .....<whispers> BBQ Cabrito. My husband was just looking over my shoulder and thinks since I won't commit to a milk cow we should get a milk goat. He says: "See how cute it is!"
@UnusualFarmChick...:ours are boar goats, they do talk alot when you walk away from them - they are better than they used to be - at 1st tit sounded like they were being murdered or something they cried so much. I thought oh the neighbors are gonna hate us! =) They tried to escape as well - and if they did it was to come to the patio to find us. Before we got these a friend had brought over her Nubians and they didn't make a PEEP! It was like we didn't have goats out there... so when we got a boars we were not expecting the escaping and whining.
Awesome photo! Love the flower crown. We had talked about making some of those for our goats for our farm wedding last fall, but then forgot all about it until afterwards. lol.

She truly was great fun to have in our family. Her passing was a big heart break. The only thing that eased it was the knowing she had a happier more loving life in the last of her years then the beginning. I do not mean to go on like about it, but she was especially special to us.Clen I was laughing so much once I uploaded the picture and could see it larger. I too could not get over how she looked like she was smiling. That silly girl was always doing something to make my love grow even stronger for her.
They are special, and pretty quickly make a home for themselves in your heart. You can tell lookig at this pic she was a special goat. I'm glad you have wonderful pics like this to remember her with.
Squee! This is one of the most wonderful goat pictures I've ever seen, and I look at pictures of baby goats to cheer me up on rough days so I've seen *plenty* Very, very cute.
