| The requested Apple Pie Bread recipe Mar 12, 2012 | ||

I tweaked an old B H & G recipe from years ago which made a big difference with the addition of the apple pie spice & the use of GOLDEN raisins. Depending upon the size of pan, this will make 1-2 loafs. This became a Fall tradition with our yearly apple picking and when we were blessed with our little... ...see more | |

Gardening is always on my mind. When I can't be in it, I'm thinking of it. Heirloom seeds with a story make me weak in the knees as well as old garden tools. We moved to our lil cottage in 2010 and have begun the garden anew. Forever being changed, it is about 25x60 with a white picket fence& potter shed- both upcycled. Our only yard neighbor is an ancient graveyard we are fond of. We raise our own chickens in their lil blue coop, Our beehive just 100ft from the garden gate. About 20 apple trees, 2 pear trees. A now tended wild blackberry patch and a few elderberry trees. Wine Cap Mushrooms are a new addition...

Valeriana officinalis 'Anthos'. Perennial. Hardy to -40° F. Also known as garden heliotrope because of its sweet, fragrant white flowers. Cut flowers before seeds ripen or this will become a weed problem. Height: 3-6 ft. Can be grown in part shade. Ornamental and Medicinal.
Valerian has been used for centuries as a medicinal herb. According to the National Institutes of Health, valerian has been used at least since ancient Greece and Rome, and throughout the centuries has been used for insomnia, anxiety, trembling, headaches and heart palpitations. In World War II, this herb was used to help ease the stress of air raids in England. (less)
