Katie's Journal: Separation Anxiety

May 31, 2012
Alfredo and I leave for a trip to Morocco this weekend for about a week and a half and as the excitement builds daily so does my anxiety about leaving the garden. Of course, Tom is here and has promised to water and tend to the plants; but will he talk to them as we do?... will he play them music?... will he pick their weeds?!
In reality I know that Tom will take good care of the garden, he is as dedicated to it as we are and now it is his turn to get his hands dirty, but it sure is hard to turn the job over. I feel like I'm leaving my "kids" with the babysitter. I'm finding myself making lists of things not to forget to tell Tom. Is there a garden 9-1-1 I should put on the emergency contacts list?!

I know how you feel.  I was gone for 5 days and worried about the garden all the time.  I came back and everything had grown so much.  I had a bunch of huge cucumbers.  Hope you have a wonderful time and post pictures!

a good parenthood preview... now you know how your parents felt! Your babies will be fine; Tom is a good dad/uncle/weedwhacker...

Katie, I, Tom Finerty, here before God and these wonderful witnesses do hereby pledge my undying attention to the garden while you are gone. I will even try to post lots of pictures while you are gone so you can check on me/it. How's that?
