Today we celebrated Lisa Marini Finerty's legacy with a meal sourced directly from the soil into which she poured so much of her heart and soul. A year ago today Lisa's passing was an indescribable loss. She was an inspiration to so many with her infectious dedication to gardening and bettering our planet. Her Chicago garden, which I spent much of my childhood in, comes to mind frequently as I am tending her garden and her legacy here in Otricoli and we all toasted to her today with the tomatoes, corn, cucumbers, beans, lettuce, onions, garlic and squash that she continues to shine her light upon.
I can't think of a better way to pay tribute. Not having my own veggie garden, and in keeping with the Otricolli meal plan for the day, we had to settle for In 'n' Out burgers, a glass of wine, and fond memories.
I was on the road on the 19th, but thinking of Lisa all day long. Wish I could have shared your beautiful harvest meal; shared some Lisa stories with my family instead... saluti Lisa; you left the earth a better place.
Well, I did not know Lisa, but I feel like I know her now... and I have tears streaming down my cheeks after reading your post. She truly must have been a wonderful person I am sorry for your loss, which then carries to us all. Saluti Lisa and thank you for your dream!
