I am going to order garlic this year, and I will have to get the kind that has scapes.  I love them.  they look and sound unique.  I hear they are great to eat and if not.... well , I can just take their pic....  You could really make a whole collection.

yes they are VERY photogenic plants!~ You can eat the scapes (sauteed or even thin sliced in salads in the early stage while still tender. But I just let them go past that stage: I guess they were too pretty for me to pick! I think once they dry out (on the "vine") each little "seed" makes more garlic.

Ya, I agree, too pretty to eat and hey, just have fun and plant the seed.  Not to many people plant by seed, so it will be along awaited novelty ( I read it takes 2-3 years to form a good bulb)!

yes I actually started these plants from seed about 3 years ago!! Someone gave the seeds to me and has since moved out of state so it is a nice memory of her every time I look at these plants! I love that about gardening:)

@amaranth3:  I recently read about them, but maybe it was you that I originally h... it from.  I really get sites mixed up at times.  Memory is not my strong suit right now.  :)
