looked through my plantings to see if anything never made it (since I forgot a lot of what I planted!!) and am really surprised these never came up: considering it is a native plant to Missouri I thought t... more ยป |
| I discovered a forgot a cucumber (White Wonder) on my list this weekend ... of course, i thought it was a squash until I got down a really looked - couldn't figure out why I didn't have any cucs yet - think I let them get just a tad too big. |

| I really like those love-in-a-mist flowers!! supposedly they self sow pretty easily so glad about that! |
I planted the Love in a Mist last year - they came back better than ever this year. Of course, I'm a pretty lazy flower-gardening person. |
| I definitely feel having flowers integrated into veggies is a great plan. They look good, attract bees/other beneficial bugs (my borage is working as a great trap crop for japanese beetles), and they are deer-proof (at least the ones I chose!) |

Garden is doing pretty good. My whole "tall spy border" deal isn't really panning out the way I had hoped...but still many days of growing left! I think those hulless oats don't get as tall as I thought they were going to, they seem to be stagnating at about 4 ft tall. I think I should've done corn instead but thats ok! Some... ...see more |

It was very hot today (95) and unfortunately didn't get to water (or yesterday)...busy busy. Finally got out to take a look at things this evening and some plants made major progress in the heat! Lemon cukes, squash, some beans all seemed to love the heat and have new flowers/fruit. Others look a little too parched: some of the... ...see more |

Our garden was planted in 2010 (and was much smaller then!). My son named the garden in 2012. The plan was to plant tall plants on the outside so he could "spy" out of it! The name has been quite apt as we are always "spying" interesting blooms, plants and animals in and around the garden. In 2013 the addition of a garden teepee will provide for more sneaking and spying opportunity! The addition of a deer fence in 2013 will hopefully mean much more produce to spy (and eat!) as well!
