It started slowly, when we moved here the winter of 2002/2003. We lived in a yurt off the grid, and focused on clearing the land for our horses. Then the gardens took a big leap when we put in the house and had a landscape company install the base structure of the house gardens in 2008. I spent a dream-come-true autumn buying shrubs, trees and perennials on my lunch breaks all week, then planting them all on my weekend. This is the end of their 3rd year, and they really took a leap this year. Next year has some editing work to do! Our ridge native soil is Ritner Cobble, which has good drainage but the "cobble"...
