Planted dark green zucchini

By: doxy
Mar 05, 2012
The last five seeds from a pack of "Dark Green Zucchini Squash" went into a new bucket container today.  Like the others, this will be out on warm, sunny days and in for the nights and coldest days.
I'm over-planting in the buckets so that I can transplant some later, or give some away.  I intend to put the bucket near a fence so the zucchini can climb when it's really going.

Covered the wet soil with leaf litter to hold moisture and add good bacteria.Need to drill two drain holes in the lower bucket soon.

Holes drilled today.Three strong sprouts up 3" each.

One of the three sprouts doesn't act like a squash.  Funny.  Maybe something from my compost.  One of the two normal sprouts is looking wimpy today.  Watered lightly.
