| I think it is a hummingbird moth.....if I'm not mistaken it comes from the tomato hornworm. I will look it up just to make sure. |

| it's funny you say that because the first few seconds I saw it, a hummingbird is exactly what I thought it was. I well know what the tomatoe worm looks like -- big ugly thing, and the tobacco worm is similar that pupates into a gorgeous moth. |

| Thanks Liz. The blooms were at their peek the day I photographed them. The combination pink/yellows are from hybrid stock and less prone to the dreadful leaf rust the old fashion varieties are so prone to. |

I prefer the kind of garden that has paths that just meander here and there rather than stiff formality. I like surprises around curves and comfortable seating in cool places where you can wile away a hour... more » |

My flower garden is mostly populated with volunteers from self-seeding plants such as hollyhocks or purple cone flowers.The remainder are perenniels. I'm fond of day lilys.
