I was a hairdresser for many years and over time the chemicals were too much for me. I found that I felt much better eating whole foods. We have gone to living a more organic life by not using harmful chemicals in the home and also by eating foods that are whole foods that do not contain additives, dyes and preservatives.
I was excited to try gardening so that I could grow a few vegetables such as lettuce, tomatoes, and peppers . Organic food can be expensive so I figured I would try my luck growing some of our favorites. It was so cool to walk outside and pick something from the garden. That is if I could get out there before my daughter Hillary . She loves to go out there and harvest everything before anybody else can get to it. Its really alot of fun though. I soon found out that the one raised bed I had was not going to be enough! I wanted to grow more vegetables. More and more and more! One thing led to another and 4 years later I have chickens, bunnies, 8 raised beds, and a few other planting areas. As a matter or fact Im pretty much taking over the whole back yard and making any possible area into a planting space to grow food. Gardening is very rewarding to me because I love to cook and prepare food for my husband and three daughters. Growing the food yourself makes it that much more special. Not to mention it tastes sooooooo much better than anything you find in the grocery store. I also feel better knowing that I know exactly how it was grown and that there were no chemicals used in growing it. I feel very blessed that I am able to get out there in the fresh air and plant a simple seed and watch it grow into something beautiful and amazing... and then eat it :)
