Started reading about growing bonsai. I am fascinated with the idea of little trees and plants. The idea of not having to be outdoor and working in the dirt but maintaining a gardening or a landscape is a very exciting idea for me. I have looked around on what kinds of plants are suitable for making into a bonsai plant. Without... ...see more

Playing Plant Doctor Feb 18, 2012

Some of my seeding, lettuce, Swiss chard and tomato, have been looking sad and droopy. As the first timer, I really don't know what is going on. I fed them enough water, got them enough sun and made sure they are warm. Some of them just looks extremely sad. Last Sunday, since I planed to divide and transplant them, I thought... ...see more

Was able to get some window panels for free today from Craigslist! I can't believe I was able to fit all 7 of them into my Accord. Unfortunately, the bottom one shattered on the way back. I knew it was going to happen but didn't bother to take the precaution to ensure the frame is resting on something. The entire weight of the... ...see more

Composting Jan 31, 2012
Activity-icon-status

We have a pile of pine needles and dead ivy in the yard. Our haphazard composting system. We put most of the kitchen scraps into the city composting bin. Once a while, I might dump some stuff in the composting pile. Squalls and birds usually get to it before it has any chance of breaking down into nutritious soil.
I read somewhere... ...see more

we might be able to get more lights Jan 30, 2012
Activity-icon-status

I think we might be able to get more sun light in our yard. I ventured to the back corner a bit more this morning and realized one of the "tree" is actually a off shoot branch from our neighbor's yard. In theory, I could trim it down a bit and see how much more light we could get in the afternoon. Ideally, it would be nice to... ...see more

Prepping the yard Jan 29, 2012
Activity-icon-status

It is a good time to prep our back yard for vegetable beds. It took me about three hours to rack up most of the leaves into a corner. I found a pretty nice spot that gets some light, about 2 or 3 hours. It is still not enough to grow fruit bearing vegetables, like tomatoes, cucumber or bell peppers. At least it will be enough... ...see more
