This is my 4th year of working this garden.  With the early warm weather in Chicago, I split a lot of hostas and day lillies while they were just emerging and plan to thin out the shasta daisies, painters palette, asters and several other plants that can take over if left to their own efforts.

I like to combine my artistic abilities with my plant knowledge in setting up my garden. I rearrange the plants according to their needs having 55 standing containers and 22 hanging ones in a backyard setting . I have limited funds so I do a lot of improvising. I like the idea of levels and having plants displayed from ground level to eye level or above. I build support structures as needed and use electrical conduit pipes as a basis element along with plastic or metal mesh. I like to water my plants daily and have been amazed ar how large ordinary annuals will get with daily care. I overwinter a lot of plants on a cool windowed back room with a southeast exposure

Your garden is so vibrant! I really like the idea of having so many in pots. You can easily rearrange to your heart's content! Do you have any flowers/plants in the front of the house or are they all in the back?
