I am currently interested in container veggie gardening, fruit trees, creating a tea & herb garden, and maintaining my daughters flower cutting garden. Everything else is just an experiment.

Spent most of the morning in the garden which was great. Haven't been able to spend quality time with plants and removing weeds. Got rid of weeds that have been getting overgrown. Cleaned up the dead scarlet runner beans which do have not done well here...some flowers, no beans, plenty of aphids. |

Used the old terracotta that is starting to crumble to place my thai basil seedling. It will soon also hold the common sage. |

The rattlesnake beans and purple pod beans are doing okay after a rough start. I have started harvesting a small amount. Not sure if I should let them grow to eat them or save them for seed. |

Received some cubanelle peppers in the mail from a seed saver exchange member. I sent them the money for the seed, however, they sent it back with the seed saying the seed may not germinate. I will be giving it a go. Looking forward to sharing the seed with others in SSE. |

Received some great rain this week and it really did wonders for the garden. Total of about 1.5 inches of rain over three days. |

Limited activity in the garden this weekend due to work and kid's activities. The Florida summer like heat we are experiencing has made some spring time crops suffer. The rattlesnake and purple pod pole beans are suffering. So far only two of my velvet beans germinated from being directly seeded. Next year the pole beans... ...see more |

That's a shame your purple podded beans aren't doing too well. I'm in Tampa and mine seem to be loving the heat, but they're on a drip system getting plenty of water, so I wonder if that's what makes the difference. |

They get watered about twice a week from irrigation. Drip would be nice...maybe in the future. |
