I may not be looking at enough southern gardens but it sure seems like Texas is ahead of the pack on progress.

We survived the tornadoes unscathed. How are you other Texans doing? I heard the storm did alot of damage throughout the area.

It feels like Texas is already starting summer. Anyone else feeling that way?

We have fruits on the tomatoes, fig, nectarine, pepper, and lemon! And a first jasmine flower, and bean flowers. We're just rolling right along.

Great!  It is going to be a great spring!

How fun and exciting!  I would love to see a picture of the fig tree in bloom.  Guess your yard was busy while you were away. :)

We're finally back in our house. We were having flood repairs and living in a hotel for 6 weeks. It is sooo good to be back home, and able to tend my plants like they need it.

I'm glad to hear you're okay and back home now. It's good that your insurance has made some improvements for you too. Happy gardening... :)

I'm so sorry to hear you are going through that. It's good to be home :)

So sorry to hear about the flood.  Glad to hear you are moved back in.  It is sad when disaster harms a home.  I hope the damage is just to the house and not your be... more »

Also, I forgot to mention, we started a new raised bed, and brought in some cinderblocks to reinforce the rows. I think I'll turn the cinderblocks into an herb garden. I love the idea of gettign two uses out of those guys and I saw a few of you doing that
Clenram replied about 1 year ago
Good idea!

Woohoo! The mulch is down ,and everybody is trimmed and watered. I love the feeling of all the ducks being in a row. For now, anyway.

I am so exhausted. We spent the whole day outside in our garden, and working on our new chicken coop. And we really worked hard.
RoriTx replied about 1 year ago
Those usually end up being the best nights sleep. A day of accomplishment & a good dose of Advil (for me anyway lol)
UnusualFarmChick replied about 1 year ago
Yay for chickens! What variety are you going with? I assume "new" chicken coop as in the only one. Congrats on your almost accomplished project!
jnntefend replied about 1 year ago
Thanks so much. We're unsure which variety to go with. Any suggestions?

I have a question for everyone, just for fun: What is your favorite tomato variety?
JMTKMS replied about 1 year ago
My favorite is a yellow tomato we had last year, but we do not know its name.  By looking at pictures I have a few yellows to try from Baker Creek and hope I find the right one.  It was a medium ... more »

My favorite would have to be Gold Medal. It produces heavy, seems to be a fairly hearty plant compared to others, produces big tomatoes (I had some over 3 lbs last year), and has THE BEST taste I've found ... more »

My favorite tomato is the yellow pear.....I eat them right off the plant like candy.....most of them don't make it to the kitchen!

We released ladybugs last night. I love ladybugs. I'll try to take a picture of some this afternoon for yall.

We have so many ladybugs it is crazy.  Last fall they even hibernated in our living room windows.  We realized there were some spots up in the corners, and upon close inspection we saw ... more »

I really do have to get one, they really are pretty.  Have you gotten fruit on yours?
jnntefend replied about 1 year ago
Just the little pre-fruits. We'll see how it does. It has such an amazing smell. I keep it indoors in our solarium, and it perfumes the place so nicely.
JMTKMS replied about 1 year ago
That's it, I need to get one.  I am putting it on my list right now.
