Spent the day mulching, but my husband had loaned out the wheelbarrow, so I was running to and from the mulch pile with a bucket. I guess it was silly but, when you're ready to mulch, you're ready to mulch.

We are having a MAJOR problem with slugs. The beer traps aren't cutting it, so we are thinking about sluggo, but I'm not sure if it's earthworm friendly. Does anyone know?

Would diatomaceous earth work?
jnntefend replied about 1 year ago
We've tried the eggshells, but not the diatomaceous earth. That may be the best solution. We're also going to try laying some cedar mulch over our current mulch.

Ooh!  No!!  Salt will kill your plants!

My suggestion is find some little boys to pick them off and squish them.  Fun stuff.  Of course, you might have a few plants stepped on too...

I want one of these.....brings back memories from when I was a kid.....huckleberry pies!

Aw, thanks. They are such beautiful bushes. I found a variety from raintree nursery that is not just shade tolerant, but shade loving, which is great for my north-facing front yard, and indoors. It's called the evergreen huckleberry.
