Biodiversity

One of the main factors in my organic approach is biodiversity. You want to have a multitude of different species and plants around both good and bad. I have attempted to bring some biodiversity in the form of beneficial insects and organisms. Namely, beneficial nematodes, green lacewings, and fly predators. So far it has been a success. I have very few ant problems to speak of after the nematodes application, which will also help with any other ground dwelling species(fleas, flies, june bugs, etc.)
Since i put out the fly predators I have seen a reduction in flies almost immediately. As for the lacewing i put out eggs so i have to wait for them to hatch, feed, and metamorphis into the lacewings which take 7-10 days. I am seeing the results as we speak.
One other beneficial that I have been seeing is the long legged fly. Very cool looking guy they eat soft bodied pests such as aphids, mites, etc... I have seen some brown lacewings which are smaller than the green. The are beneficial as an adult at eating pests as well
