Is that an anole? Whatever it is, it's cool!

How cool!  Though I'm not going to lie, I think it would probably take a couple of years off my life if I encountered him in my garden :)

Ah! I love these guys!! My nephew had one as a pet that he somehow got from school -- he ended up out the cage, and on the ceiling! lol.

I was just in the garden and I heard a rustling under a leaf. Moved the leaf to discover a cockroach (shudder). Then I heard a louder rustling and stepped away. A big lizard jumped out and ate the cockroach. Kind of cool!

That would be so cool to see. Total natural spontaneous cycle of life... very cool.

Found 2 monarch caterpillars on my radish today! I wanted to relocate them away from my veggies, but I wasn't sure what they like other than milkweed. Dill?
UnusualFarmChick replied about 1 year ago
very cool! I wish I had something for an answer but all I could thing was  "cool!". Do you plant milk weed to attract the butterflies? I ask being you found TWO of them in caterpillar stage. Why can't... more »

I don't plant milkweed, actually, so I was surprised to find them.  I did a little research online and it looks like they really only eat milkweed, so I sent them to school with my neighbor's daughter... more »

Woohoo! Planted a brand new very beautiful Rio Red Grapefruit tree today!! It makes me so happy to look out the window and see it.
Clenram replied about 1 year ago
I have one grapefruit that made it threw winter... I hope yours does well too!
julia42 replied about 1 year ago
Our area has a lot of grapefruit trees in yards that go through every winter unprotected.  I suppose the only problematic things would be if there are early hard freezes that mess up the fruit.  ... more »

Toady I added another Oauchita Blackberry to my collection. I also picked up a Pink Scullcap for the front beds - one of my favorite ornamentals.

That is a serious storm out there.
julia42 replied about 1 year ago
Actually I just read that a tornado touched down about 1/4 mile from here around the time of the crazy wind, so I guess it was some bad weather after all.
JMTKMS replied about 1 year ago
Quarter mile?  That is too close for comfort.  Have you had many tornado's in your area?  One that close is scary enough for me, I ll take an earthquake any day.
joeythejoe replied about 1 year ago
we ended up with 4"+ just east of Dallas. Also got some very small hail but nothing that did any damage.
