| How long have you worked with bees? I have been thinking of taking a class that starts in January "Western Maine Bee Keepers" school. Everyone I have talked to that has a garden and bees ..... well, they go hand in hand....nice pictures... |

This is our second year. I would take the class, it can't hurt. We took a class the winter before we started, then also joined the bee keepers club. You get lots of good info from both... more » |

Our garden at this home started two years ago when we moved here. We can't use any poisons for bugs because we also have bees. So we plowed up the spot where the previous owners kept their horses, and we have not had to fertilize yet, either. This is so different than Texas. Different things grow, and don't grow, and there is a huge learning curve. Just figured out this season some things not to use, like some of the non hybrid tomatoes, as they just don't do well with our cool nights. Sure wish we could grow Okra, though. We are Alaska Grown certified, which is a nice thing here.
