As the wife of a career Air Force officer I traveled throughout the US and wherever we were stationed I gardened to the best of my ability while raising our children and dealing with the challenges each location threw our way.  We moved to Ohio in 2001 and have a 5 acre mini farm, mostly for the horses, but i plant a 1/4 acre vegetable garden each year and have numerous flower beds which supply an abundant harvest for our church each week from May through October.  Several years ago I joined the local garden club and have learned a lot from the members, and Ohio is a great place to grow things, especially with our ready supply of horse manure to augment the soil.
