What do you do with your gourds?  This one is cute too.

some of the gourds get painted by friends of mine to sell at the Pretzel Festival in the fall.  For the most part i let them dry and collect them.  One of my favorite gourds is a snake gourd, but not having luck finding it on my laptop.  Trying to organize all my photos and will add more photos in the future.

We grew these, but all the necks were bent over, they looked more like swan gourds, but were really dippers.  Hey, have you grown sponge gourds?  We have tried but no luck, just wondered if they need something special that we were missing.

Never have tried sponge gourds but have heard about them.  A friend of mine grew the egg gourds last year and hers did quite well.  It was a bad year for gourds last summer, I didn't have any of the type that i dry survive, but some for fall did OK.  My pride an joy is a huge kettle gourd from about 5 years ago.  I can't paint worth a darn, so maybe i will commission my sister or a friend to turn it into a work of art.

Would love to see pictures of the painted gourds.  We have pile of unpainted dried gourds in the yard.  I need tempt the kids to be creative.  I guess I will try the sponge gourds again, if they work great, if not there are plenty of other things to try in the future.
