spring continues....

Harvested my third small picking of asparagus today. I may put some of the decorative grass cuttings on top of it tomorrow. Looks like straw so it may help deter the weeds. The town project we care for needed them cut back and now i have a truck bed full . Been pretty hectic on my job and volunteer front so not much getting done in the garden. My neighbor is working on the tillers' carburetor which i sheered off last spring in the field fencing (while tilling near the asparagus patch, tried to put tiller in neutral mode, and it went too far and took off into the fence.) One of these years I will have an operable tiller and actually get things done in the fall. Strawberry bed is looking okay, not too many plants yet after moving locations 2 years ago. So far the weather is cooperating, here's hoping for a not too wet spring and too dry summer as the past 2 years has delivered. Ducks are back in my hand dug pond (which is only a mud hole in the summer but the high ground water keeps it going till the tadpoles mature in general.) Still have to get out and buy seeds or I will have a garden of grape tomatoes only. Oh, the Kale which i grew last year and never did anything with survived the winter and is now getting ready to flower. Wonder if i can collect the seeds.
plum trees bloomed for the first time ever, poor cherry tree is still producing blossoms, i may post a picture of that. Every year we figure it will die. Old apple tree has blossoms on the very top, lost half of it last summer. I still want to graft a branch of this old tree as I have no idea what kind of apple it is, except it makes great applesauce and pies. Wisteria has blooms, yay, though we had a freeze 2 nights back, the breeze was blowing so all may still be well.
