What a great setup you have - inside and out!  I am sure that others are wondering as well how long your project took from start to finish (design to final nail).  Did you use any recycled items?

So construction took probably about 3 months start to finish. I'm lucky enough to work for a family owned construction business so whenever we had a remodeling job we would salvage as much material as we could. All the glass and windows are salvaged so is all the drywall, doors, beams, trim work, and paint. All in all I spent around $1500 for all the other materials which included a load of lumber, metal roofing, concrete, aluminum casing, cedar shakes, and little odds and ends. I was pretty happy with the final balance, I initially wanted to be patient on materials and keep it as salvaged as possible but we got a little anxious to see it finished. I had the design in my head for a year or so. Initially I wanted to put a rocket mass heater running along the back wall but I decided to hold off to see how well a passive design works. I've been keeping temperature records for the last month that I will post when I get around to it. Thanks for the interest though, any other questions I'd be glad to answer.

@kicknochis:Thanks for the construction info.  Great of you to reuse so many materials.  I only wish that I had the land to have such a structure...I'll bookmark this post for the future!
