There is a product called 'Scram' for deer. It is suppose to work really well... I used the 'Scram' for dogs to keep our out of the garden and it worked very well.
@joeythejoe: I just looked it up and it sounds too good to be true. But I am going to try it, because I have many plant to plant and not enough space in the raised beds that are proctected. I am planting all my melons and pumpkins out in the fields. I think they will have a better chance with scram. I'll give it a shot and let everyone know how it worked. Thanks!
We have been using deer fence...it is plastic and not expensive. I can see the tracks of the deer as they walk around the low garden but they haven't gotten inside.
@Clenram: deer fence wouldn't work here. We have all kinds of critters. We need something extra sturdy ad a fencing system that can't be snuck underneath of.
@linzelu100: How sad to have to go to all this work to garden. My dad has the same problem, well deer and a short growing season, so he is giving up alot of his veggies. He planted a plant, crown imperial, and the bloom is supposed to deter the animals, only he said when they bloom they almost deter him from being in his living room as the wind brings the smell right in. He is not sure how the deer do with it, they certainly do not eat them, but they still come near by. The flowers are beautiful... I will try post a picture today.
