| update from Peaceful Prayer Garden :) Aug 30, 2012 | |

All of your prayers have done wonders for me- I much appreciate it. I do not have Lyme disease- just another infection of which they have no name for me. Oh...and Asthma- which made my symptoms worse. I have been reading a lot of books about staying positive and I think they worked. I was shocked and relieved when my Lyme test... ...see more |

Hi everyone, I've been gone from YGS for a bit, and probably won't be on much in the next few days, at least. I contracted Lyme Disease from all my time in the "organic" garden. I have extreme fatigue so not much energy to spare, especially with a toddler. I have been avoiding the garden like the plague. I have to admit...I am... ...see more |
So sad that something so small can cause such a tragedy and crush your spirit of gardening! Hope you recover quickly and hope your dog is ok too. Your family will be in my thoughts and prayers ... more » |
Get WELL! I feel the same way about our deer (love to watch them) I don't think we have the deer ticks that carry the disease. It could be one of the up sides to our HOT weather. &nb... more » |
I just saw this! I am glad you caught it early. We live in a very high tick area...my husband was diagnosed last year after suffering for a year. It wasn't showing up in his blood work, but a specialist on... more » |

| Tired of the tomato plants... looking for new thing Aug 08, 2012 | |
|
|
My tomato plants look awful- they have been neglected :( I want to pull them up, but they are still putting out a few tomatoes here and there and there are lots of new flowers. What can I plant now...the height of the summer for heat, that will put out in 2 months or a little more. I have lots of empty bed space and a plethora... ...see more |
Check the days to maturity for the varieties you have and that should give you your answer - for sure you should be able to get radishes, greens, pea shoots, etc. You might find some other early vari... more » |

Hello All! It looks like, the closer we get to moving date, the more set we are on Louisianna. It can all change, but I am trying to learn about gardening there, just in case;) It seems as if it will be hot and humid. I'm not familiar with those growing conditions. We lived in Alabama awhile and I tried to grow two gardens there,... ...see more |
| I will talk to my sister...she raised kids in Alabama, and I think she had a garden. |
| when you get settled I'll send you a planting date schedule. You'll still need to plant your garlic in October and let it over winter. You should see zero snow down there and yes it is going to be hot and humid like your trips to Dallas. |
| I would talk a lot to Rori! Are you going to the southern part of Louisiana or the Northern part...they are really different. My brother lives close to Shreveport and that is close to Rori. What a wonderful adventure! |

Ripping out all the beans, cukes and squash today. Boo hoo.

| I'll be left with tomatoes and herbs. |
Is this because you're moving? I can empathize; we are moving, too, and the time spent packing boxes is time that can't be spent in the garden. I hope you end up with a great gardening situation wherever y... more » |

We are a young family attempting to grow our food. It hasn't been easy, but has been rewarding to say the least. Last year was our first successful garden and this year we are expanding. We decided to move to a new house with more land. We are leaving behind our raised beds and fruit orchard, but in exchange will have much more space to experiment with. I am tinkering with square foot gardening this year, along with growing melons and pumpkins for the first time. I try to keep my garden varied and diverse, with mixed amounts of fruits, vegetables, herbs and flowers. I prefer growing heirlooms with beautiful stories,...
