Boiled Dinner Aug 13, 2012
Activity-icon-status

Everyone (Mom and Manley) have been asking when I am doing a boiled dinner.  Personally I think it is still too warm but everything is coming in so today is a boiled dinner via the pressure cooker (first time with the pc).  Turnip, cabbage, carrots, onions, potato and ham.

MMMMMmmmmmm. My favorite. Smoked shoulder boiled dinner is my comfort meal. Enjoy.
Beef Vegetable Stew Aug 12, 2012
Activity-icon-status

After church I made a huge batch of beef veggie stew.  Everything was from the garden except the beef (cheap on sale).  Cabbage, onions, garlic, carrots, parsley, beans, peas, and tomato sauce (last year).  I canned it.  This is my first time canning a stew.  I know the veggies might be softer than I'd like but it is an... ...see more

I'll let you know when the snow is deep and it is cold outside...good bowl of soup to remind me of my garden.

I replanted the lettuce and beets.  Told Manley where.  I came home from work and he had replanted some chives and geranium where I had planted the lettuce....he felt bad...Guess I should have put up a sign.  I'm going to dig through my stash and see if I have any old lettuce seeds.

Chipmunk was in my garden sitting under... ...see more

Haha. Mark doesn't plant seeds. Too little and "fussy". He only helps me trans-plant. He will say "just tel me where to dig". And he digs the holes. He will also roto-til if I tell him exactly wher... more »

Grrr. I always have that fear....that would so happen to us.
mainegarden replied 9 months ago
Manley and I had to have a 'chat' because he plopped two mint pots on top of my beet seedlings.  He said I hadn't "marked" it.  I just told him 3 times.  I marked the beets and they actually... more »
Harvesting Jul 31, 2012
Activity-icon-status

I cut the broccoli yesterday, one head of cabbage, green beans and I cut the second cutting of basil.  I made pesto and will have that with chicken and pasta.  I made a chocolate zucchini bread, leave it to me to take something healthy and make it naughty.  AND it was very naughty with cream cheese.  My fat cells did a happy... ...see more

Broccoli, Beets, and Beans Jul 24, 2012
Activity-icon-status

I'll have to take a picture of the broccoli...beautiful and the two chunks we ate were so yummy....no worms!!!   The beets are so sweet this year and the beans are coming in.  I am itching for a boiled dinner but we'll have to wait for the carrots and turnip to catch up.  One of the cabbage is starting to split so I will... ...see more

I'm so jealous of your broccoli.  I've tried 2 years, with no success.  Our carrots are doing well but the turnips got massacred by aphids.  A boiled dinner sounds awesome!  Ultimate comfort food.

mainegarden replied 11 months ago
Thank you.  It is a lot of work and he does a great job, I think.  This was created because the moose ran through and killed some asparagus plants (stepping on them).
