To Pluck or not to pluck

Apr 13, 2012
Okay.  This is so new to me.  I see some cool little green life coming up out of the ground, but I'm thinking they might be weeds.  I just found out a little trick for identifying the growth of your seedlings.  Next time I plant my seeds, I'm going to put a red-top wooden match stick right next to the seed so when I do see some green life come up out of my soil, I'll have a more than vague idea of whether it's a weed or a carrot!!   Any suggestions???

As you keep growing you will learn the shape of the new leaves.  Some seed packets will show a little picture of the plant as it sprouts.  With the soil that you used in your boxes, I think you might just wait and see what comes up.  You will be able to tell your good plants a little better as they grow.

haha, i had the same problem -- but being as i'm very lazy - i just let it grow, and when it turns into some kind of terrifying mutant alien space ninja monster weed that i didn't plant - i pull it :)

I have nurtured many weeds, especially when seeding a new kind of flower, before deciding it was a weed rather than the flower I planted.
